TacoMasa Taqueria opened in October 2021 at the corner of 7th Street and Park Ave. A Tijuana-style taqueria, TacoMasa makes everything from scratch onsite including the handmade corn and flour tortillas, fresh salsas, and guacamole. An additional, unique feature of the menu is that all of the meats are mesquite grilled – something that is rare to find outside of Mexico.
The sleek, industrial style restaurant offers a streamlined menu of mesquite-grilled carne asada, adobada (marinated, spit-roasted pork), and jamaica (a vegan option that utilizes hibiscus flowers) in tacos, mulitas, tortas, quesadillas, or as a nacho-style topping for fries or chips.
Restauranteur/Founder Ivan Flores grew up in Tijuana and dreamed of opening an authentic, Tijuana-style taqueria since he was a young boy. Ivan also owns the Buffalo Spot next door and the Blue Burro at 7th and Bellflower. The Buffalo Spot, which opened in 2013, became famous for its buffalo fries — fries topped with buffalo chicken tenders — and has expanded to 37 locations nationally. The Blue Burro, which has grown to five locations since its founding in 2019, offers a Mexican take on a traditional burger joint menu, with burritos and tacos, shakes, and fries.
In the few months that it has been open, TacoMasa has fast become a Wilson High favorite.
