Although the Long Beach Public Library facilities are closed to the public (remember, patrons can order books, DVDs, music/books on CDs, and pick them up curbside at Bayshore, Los Altos, Eldorado, Obama, Twain, Harte, and BJK Main), the Library continues to bring services to residents in creative and COVID-safe ways. Here are some highlights:
Circle of Stories Geared For theToddler/Pre-School Set
Be a part of a live Circle of Stories on Zoom! Children aged 2 to 5 and their caregivers will read, sing, dance and play together. Sign up for a four-week session on Saturdays, which includes a parent workshop at the end of each cycle to cover questions and to learn more about your child’s development.
Register through the Calendar page on LBPL.org to reserve your spot and receive a backpack of manipulatives such as egg shakers, rhythm sticks, instruments, scarves, and an Activity Guide designed by library staff. Registration is required, space is limited to 10 families per group.

Looking for a Career Change? Honing Job Skills? College-Bound Student?

Practice taking standardized tests such at the PSAT, SAT, GRE, ACT, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT or HiSET. You can even search for Financial Aid, Scholarships and finding the perfect school for you. If you think your days of test-prep are over, think about this: Gale Presents lets you take a deep dive into tutorials aimed at topics for job searching – career changes, salary negotiations, resume basics, and more.

Walk Off Those (COVID) 19 lbs., Enjoy a Good Book and Save Money!
One thing the pandemic has done for our neighborhood is get us all out walking and reading ... at the same time. Downloading books has been a lifesaver for many but buying audio books doesn’t have to break your bank. Don’t forget that the Overdrive/Libby app is available through LBPL.org to borrow audio and eBooks free with your library card. Compatible with PC, MAC, eReaders, smartphones and tablets.
