Celebrating your Home’s Centennial?

By Maureen Neeley

Was your house built in 1921 or earlier? If so, consider celebrating with a 100-year-old birthday sign!

Patty Mazon, left, owner of a 1921 Craftsman on 5th Street, with Bette and Helen and a sample of the latest shipment. “It sure is fun to walk the neighborhood and see the signs,” Bette observed.

You may see Bette McKinney and her walking partner, Helen Carroll, hand-delivering these special placards throughout Belmont Heights. Together these two friends have distributed 50 signs, the first to a 1914 home on Third Street and several to homes built between 1903 - 1906. These architectural gems are what makes Belmont Heights such an attractive place to live.

Want a sign? Send a note to President@MyBelmontHeights.org or call 562-285-3860. If possible, consider a $20 donation to help defray the cost to the BHCA. Covid-safe personal delivery by Bette and Helen included!
