Minutes from "BHCA Monthly Meeting" on 11/11/2009 - 7:00pm

  1. As a follow-up to the October meeting, a report on residential burglaries comparing calendar years 2007, 2008 and year-to-date 2009 was distributed. Those statistics have been posted on this website for residents' review. 2008 showed a reduction from 2007 but annualized figures for 2009 indicate an approximate 26% increase from 2008. Updates will be made through the end of the year as figures become available.

Residential Burglary Statistics

As a result of our October meeting, Councilman De Long's office pulled together statistics regarding residential burglaries for calendar years 2007, 2008 and year-to-date 2009 for Belmont Heights. I was waiting for October 2009 data but they are not yet available.

Please see the attached files for the information. There are 9 reporting districts in the Heights; a map outlining the parameters of those districts is attached. Residents can look at their reporting district for specific information. Burglaries declined in 2008 but annualized figures for 2009 indicates an increase.

SECOND + PCH - EIR

Some of you may have attended the October 7 meeting where the City presented a "scoping" meeting to provide for public comment on environmental issues to be addressed in the EIR/CEQA process for the proposed development at PCH and Second.

I wanted to make sure that residents of the Heights realize that they have until November 5, 2009 to submit comments to the City has to what you believe should be included in the scope of the draft EIR. The firm hired to do the EIR is PCR; costs for the study are paid by the developer but funds go to the City and the City hires the firm.
