BHCA Monthly Meeting June 13, 2018
Maureen Neeley called meeting to order 7:02.
Sponsor: Maureen introduced Wes Harding who provided cookies; he discussed his company Harding Design & Construction.
Maureen introduced Alana LaBeaf the Community Services Senior Librarian for the LB Public Library. Alana oversees 3D printer at Maker Space at Main Library.
Alana reviewed the following:
Pamphlets she brought for distribution and discussed library programs especially for summer.
How to get a library card and useful databases at the LB Public Library and its website and answered questions.
Alana and Maureen went over drawings of new library and City Hall and Port Authority building.
Jack Cunningham, chief of staff for Councilwoman Suzie Price, answered questions on homeless problem at 6th & Redondo and homelessness in general. He also covered the following:
Fire on 2nd Street.
Nieto to be repaved between Appian Way and Broadway.
New box to report fireworks on Go Long Beach.
New signs on all entrances to LB prohibiting vehicles 22 ft or longer on residential streets except with permit.
Mr. Bodin, drama teacher at Wilson High, honored for retirement.
Reported naming of two places in district.
Next community meeting, June 16, 10 AM at new Bayshore swim dock; Jack mentioned the new swim/diving platform and rubber play structure at Bayshore.

Maureen asked for volunteers for art program and writers for newsletter.
Diane De Walshe reported on possible operators for Community Hospital.
Maureen noted ADU changes and potential state senate bills 1469 and 831 that will override LB ordinances.
Doug discussed possible engraving for bicycles.
Will spoke about trees needing watering and looking for volunteers to water them.
Derrick reported on Red Car Greenbelt weed abatement and graffiti that public works knows about.
Maureen reported on Water Wise Garden Tour on Argonne led by C.J. Crockett who was thanked.
Ken reported that FAA declined to take on helicopter noise issue, but gave reasonable reasons for it. June 20th, 7 PM meeting with helicopter operators at UMC basement.
Maureen reported on Bastille Day harbor tour on July 14th, 10 AM, space for 100 people.
MakeMusicLB.org—June 21 at Rec Park band shell different group every hour.
