Pacific Electric Right-of-Way Greening Project

With the completion of the Termino Avenue drain project, we are working with the Councilman's office to develop a plan to green the portion of the right-of-way between Park and Ximeno. As of September, 2011, there is little to report. Councilmember DeLong's office is working with the county to secure a promised planning grant that will allow the necessary outreach to the community. The grant monies are slow in coming. In the meantime, you may have noticed that some seeding is taking place. According to Julie Maleki, Administrative Analyst for DeLong, "The contractor is required to restore the greenbelt to its previous condition. Additionally, reseeding is necessary in order to stabilize the area and prevent mud slides during future rain storms. The reseeding has no bearing on the planning process or the greenbelt or from future development." We will continue to work with DeLong to make sure the BHCA is included in any planning for the PE right-of-way.
