City Council Hearing
Regarding changes to Public Noticing for Hearings
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
5:00 pm, 1st Floor Council Chamber, City Hall
333 W. Ocean Blvd.
The Long Beach City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 to discuss and act on the recommended code changes from the Department of Development Services regarding the way the City gives notice of public hearings. The recommended code changes are:
• Adopt a 750-foot noticing radius instead of the current 300 feet required by code and mandated by State law,
• Adopt a requirement to notify all occupants within the radius as well as property owners,
• Change the way the radius is measured so that it starts from the subject site property boundaries instead of the far side of the adjacent public right-of-way, to avoid confusion where parcels and streets are irregular, and
• Adopt a requirement for a 30” x 40” notice poster to be placed at each subject site, instead of the 11” x 17” poster currently required.
The City encourages you to attend the City Council hearing and express your opinion of these proposed changes. If you are unable to attend but still want your voice to be heard, please contact Scott Kinsey, the city planner assigned to this project.
