Marathon Day

Just do what Joel and I did on Marathon Day. We walked (not drove) down to Belmont Burger, ate lunch and watched the upset drivers try and make it thru the intersection. What fun. Seriously, it is one day a year. We can put up with it. Plan accordingly! We are a fairly large city. If we want people to come here and hopefully spend $ then we need to host events. So eat a burger on Marathon Day and watch the near misses!!! Yes, we have a sick way to have fun.

Cheers! Craig

Lol - just kidding.

Im not complaining about the event itself... I like the concept.

but I seriously think some street signs and traffic direction is needed on event day.

BHCA sponsoring a water booth? I like the idea

Every year somebody is upset about the marathon

Whining is allowed, wait to you see the paper this week. I look forward to reading about how this is the worst thing in the world, for Long Beach. Sorry I think we should support this event maybe a BHCA water stop ???? What do you think!!!!

Marathon traffic sux!

Ok, I hope the marathon was a success. I've yet to attend the anual event, but sounds like fun for those people that are into it.

However, as a resident I need to vent. Every year I forget, because it only lasts for a day. The traffic on marathon day sucks! and every year I feel it could mostly be avoided with a little more information. There are no road signs posted! and There are no traffic cops on the only corridors out of the shore.

How does someone not involved know where to go? It's impossible to get in or out of southeastLong Beach. Simply stated, it shouldn't take 45min to go five miles. Perhaps its the route... it cuts off the only two corridors out of the shore. Anything cutting off westminister, studebaker, and 7th street really should be revisited by a marathon planning committe for next year. Seems simply in the interest of public safety it's dangerous cutting of 2/3 of primary corridors. here's a map for those interested.

hope I'm not just whining in a public forum...
