Seaport Marina Traffic Impact

Mr. DeLong-Traffic impact is one of the biggest issues surrounding the Seaport Marina Project. The project description posted on the BHCA site does not describe the traffic impact on Belmont Heights. The Seaport Marina FEIR traffic analysis is difficult to understand and there have been changes to the traffic distribution throughout Belmont Heights and Alamitos Heights.

During your campaign you advocated an “open door policy” at City Hall. Could you set up a meeting with residents,the City, and the EIR Traffic Consultant so that we can ask questions about the impact of this project and cumulative City growth on our neighborhood? We would like to meet prior to March 15 2007 Planning Commision Meeting. I would be happy to coordinate this effort. Kerrie Aley

I am very interested in hearing from the Belmont Heights community regarding the proposed Lennar development. If you use the MyBelmontHeights.org website to offer your opinions, I will read every one.

I have not yet taken a position on the proposed development, and am receptive to your points of view.

At the applicant's request, the date of the Planning Commission public hearing for the SeaPort Marina project has been continued from February 15, 2007 to March 15, 2007.

Yes, the Final EIR will be up for certification at the hearing on February 15th.

The agenda will be available approximately one week prior to the hearing. Copies will be available both online and here at City Hall (5th floor).

Staff is recommending approval of this project and is currently in the process of drafting conditions to attach to it.

Mobility Element/Lennar

The Mobility Element of the General Plan is being updated alongside the Land Use Element. The two are scheduled to be adopted at the same time (in approximately two years). The lead staff person working on the Mobility Element is Sumire (Sumi) Gant. She should be able to answer any specific questions you may have. She can be reached at (562) 570-6618 or sumire_gant@longbeach.gov.

The SeaPort Marina project is to be heard by the Planning Commission on Thursday February 15th at 1:30pm in the City Council Chambers. Written comments from the public will be distributed to each commissioner prior to the hearing. Please send any comments either to me (charles_hungerford@longbeach.gov) or Derek Burnham, the project planner (derek_burnham@longbeach.gov).

The Final EIR will be available at least ten (10) days prior to the Planning Commission hearing, both online and here at City Hall (5th floor) for public review.
